NAVY SEAL TRAINING    

Man... how do you guys do it? I want to become a marine someday, but becoming a Navy Seal is a whole nother level. How, how how. How do you tolerate the pain in buds training, the exhaustion, the painstaking physical and mental challenges over and over and over? I wish I had that sort of discipline and motivation. Material on this stuff is scarce, there aren't any psychological books written on it. I'll continue to look for insight into this, by reading NAVY seals books, psych books, and joining the marines.
 
Becoming a SEAL and enduring that stuff is simple if you really want to be a SEAL. It's strong desire and not much different than a guy who works a couple jobs and puts himself through school. Many people, business men, Police Officers, Lawyer's, Marines - whoever, have strong desires to succeed at what they are doing and will endure many things to accomplish that goal. SEALs are just guys with strong desires to become SEALs. To be a great Marine, you'll reach very deep yourself. Good Luck. Don
 
Thanks for your prompt response. I've read that Hardiness is what seperates resilient people from non-resilient people, it can even determine a soldier's grit i.e. more resilient soldiers are less prone to PTSD. It really is just as you say. It consists of 3 basic attitudes. Commitment- how meaningful the task is to you, control- your confidence that you can control or accomplish the situation and Challenge; you look at stressors not as permanent problems butas opportunities to challenge yourslf
