SEAL OFFICER SELECTION

SEAL officer selection???
I am currently in college, and I was wondering the way I could be selected to attend buds training as an officer SEAL candidate?
I've heard it's very tough to be selected - is this true?

Re: SEAL officer selection
Selection for Officers is very tough because the demand for Officers is much less than Enlisted guys. In a SEAL Platoon there are two Officers and 14-16 Enlisted men... you can do the math...

When you finish school, submit a "Package" to an Officer recruiter for BUDS.

If it's denied... then enlist like most guys do and become an Officer after some time in the Teams as an Enlisted guy...

Talk soon... Don

Re: Re: SEAL officer selection
Thank you, Don.

The only thing that I am concerned about is.. I don't want to be in the "regular" Navy. SEAL is the only option I wanna go. I was wondering if I can apply for BUD/S before actually commissioning? If you are not sure do you know who/where I can get some answers?

I know BUD/S will be really tough, but failure is not an option.

Thank you,
Josh

Re: Re: Re: SEAL officer selection
I told you that if it's denied "Your Package to OCS" for BUD/S, then enlist...
BUDS OCS Packages become VERY competitive and most guys don't make the cut.

You "Apply" for OCS (Officer Candidate School) to attend BUD/S Training as an Officer.  If they deny your package for what ever reason, you "are not a commissioned officer at that point and two options."
1. You can reapply to be a regular Navy Officer.
2. You can enlist in the Navy and get a "SEAL Contract" and attend BUDS Training as an enlisted guy.

If you do well in the Teams... you can apply to become an Officer after a few years...

Percentage wise... the SEAL Teams have more college educated enlisted men than any other branch or unit of the military.
